The gratitude of the attendees

Every year when Mostra del Cinema di Venezia ends everyone wonder what will be left of the days spent at Lido among movies and press conferences, meetings and award ceremonies, red carpets and words said and wrote to tell readers feelings, new passions, unexpected disappointments. It was not given that after months scourged by a pandemic that got real a menace faced only pretending till now we could have been able to gather here celebrating movies and its talents and critics once more, despite social distancing, stifling face masks. But still hungry for those huge images coming from the
screen of a theatre.

Then, despite some unavoidable troubles and those who believed that was not worth to send a movie to quite a different Mostra and even those hoping not come, dominant feeling is gratitude towards a Festival that set the restart of cinema in the entire world and that also protected us applying severe but necessary rules allowing talents to be in Venice to talk about their works in a safety environment with sanitizer on their hands and fancy face masks. Such as the one wore by Tilda Swinton that during the opening ceremony gave the most beautiful and passionate fostering words.

And near the end Emma Dante said: «Breath badly through face masks makes us aware that we are sane even if we are not sick. We can’t celebrate forgetting what the world is experiencing today, But  Venezia 77 gave us the chance and privilege to start dreaming again».
