A Salamandra: power and desire

È un melodramma dove i corpi sono terreno di scontro tra classi e lotte di potere A Salamandra is a melò in which bodies are the battlefields of class war. The first feature by Alex Carvalho keeps, according to ICW Artistic Director Beatrice Fiorentino «breathless» especially thanks to the outstanding performance of Marina Foïs (she was in Cannes this year with La fracture) who is Catherine, a woman escaping from Brazil who starts a relationship with Gil, a man much younger than her. The movie is based on the novel La salamandre (2005) written by Jean-Christophe Rufin and adapted for the screen by Carvalho himself. A Salamandra is paired with the short film in competition Notte romana by Valerio Ferrara.
