Hungary 1983: a punk musician opposes the regime with his music, but he is locked up in a mental institution. Erasing Frank is an exposé of the authoritarian regimes. Fabricius’s first feature fits in the best tradition of recent Hungarian and Eastern-European cinema such as Béla Tarr, László Nemes and Russian Kirill Serebrennikov. The short film L’ultimo spegne la luce directed by Tommaso Santambrogio is paired with the feature.
