Qui Rido Io applauded at the screenings and at the press conference

A standing ovation of the accredited journalists greeted Mario Martone and the cast of Qui rido io at the official press conference of Venezia 78. Quite an unusual event that encouraged the conversation about the movie. Here’s the most significant quotes of the protagonists:

Mario Martone: “Denied paternity was the spark of the movie. Ippolita Di Majo and I started to think that there was a mistery to face, the story of a peculiar family revolving around a genius of theatre such as Scarpetta, patriarch pushed who was starving for social redemption, a revenge that brought him to write at the entrance of his villa in posillipo “Here I Laugh”. Scarpetta is a mythological figure, a primeval man.”

Toni Servillo: “I imagined Scarpetta like animal chasing his preys in the hunting territory: women, words, theatre, tournée, Scarpetta devoured everything in a continue exchange of life and stage”
