Mother Lode, a political fairytale by Matteo Tortone

Mother Lode is in competition for the International Critics’ Week, it’s a cruel fairy tale about the inhumanity of neoliberalism today, where the law of profit dominates at any cost. Jorge sets off from his home in the outskirts of Lima to reach the gold mines of the Andes. Matteo Tortone directs and also wrote the script with Mathieu Granier. Tortone is a documentary filmmaker (he won Kazan Film Festival for White Men, directed with Alessandro Baltera), producer and director of photography. Artistic Director of the ICW Beatrice Fiorentino said that Mother Lode is «a film of the world». The short Inchei by Federico Demattè is tied to the movie.
