The 36th International Critics’ Week concludes its run with the out-of-competition feature film La dernière séance (international title The Last Chapter). A dialogue-confession between the director Gianluca Matarrese (awarded at Torino 2019 with the doc Fuori tutto) and Bernard, his sixty-three year old lover that is moving out. A relationship based on BDSM codes, where Gianluca is the slave and Bernard the master: «Between a whiplash and a leather harness», says the director, «we discuss about love, death, AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, his new life project, us». Grand finale also for SIC@SIC, with Jonas Carpignano’s A Chiara (out of competition), a short version of the feature film of the same name which won an award at Cannes 2021.
