Nicolas Winding Refn chose to tell a noir story for his first work in his birthland, Denmark. Copenaghen Cowboy will arrive soon on Netflix, and the streaming service executives have already defined the product as «electrifying and dark». The series premieres out of competition at Venice Film Festival and revolves around young heroine Miu (Angela Bundalovic), who travels through the criminal underworld of Copenaghen, crossing Chinese, Serb-Albanian and Arabic mobs. During the story, we discover that the girl has hypernatural skills and we meet another protagonist that, sooner or later, she will have to face. «Copenhagen Cowboy made me return to my past to shape my future, creating a series, an expansion of my alter egos constantly evolving, this time in the form of my young heroine Miu » says Nicolas Winding Refn. Writer, director and producer, when he was 24 made the cult movie Pusher (1996) which became a trilogy with Pusher II (2004) and Pusher III (2005). Bleederhis second movie, was selected for Venice Film Festival in 1999. «When I make a movie, I become a bit sadistic, not much against people, but because I’m consumed by my job. I’m dominated by three women at home, my wife and two daughters. They control my life, then I’m very submissive at home and sadistic on set».
