«I feel the responsibility and the happiness of being patroness of this festival that is a full-fledged Year Zero, the first and hopefully the last in this condition». Anna Foglietta has no doubt about the importance of this year’s Venice Film Festival. «Covid got us in front of the unknown. The sure thing was fear. The slap we received led good people to act better and sadly worsen many others. It’s up to us, artists and journalists, to revive the passion for movies, to avoid the laziness of these last months and drive the audience to theaters again».
Before coming to Lido you wrote a thank-you letter to Venice Film Festival staff. It never happened before.
«We are fighting since quite a while to give the due importance to the “invisible ones”, those workers that are essential for the film industry. It’s the same for the festival and I’m incredibly grateful to them, because they allow me to be here today, talking to the press, meeting again, albeit covered with masks. It’s a fresh start and it would have been impossible without them».
