Premi Pasinetti 2020: Gassmann and The Macaluso Sisters have been chosen

Two awards for The Macaluso Sisters and one for Alessandro Gassmann: at Lido it is time for honors. The winners (which will be awarded in Rome later) of Premio Francesco Pasinetti 2020, assigned at Venice Film Festival by the SNGCI (the union of Italian movie journalists), were announced yesterday. The best film is Emma Dante‘s The Macaluso Sisters, also awarded for the entire female cast, while Alessandro Gassmann was chosen for the best male performance in Mauro Mancini’s debut feature Thou Shalt Not Hate, in competition at SIC (International Critic’s Week).

The names were announced by the Board of SNGCI which, as always, chose the winners from all the Italian movies presented in the various sections, together with the members of its National Council accredited to the Festival. «These choices confirm, despite the quality and originality of the Italian proposals in the various sections (and especially those in the official competition of Venezia 77), the particular attention that the SNGCI has chosen to give this year on feature, also to support the resumption of cinema in theaters».
