Andrea Scrosati, Fremantle COO and former Sky Evp Programming Sky received yesterday from the hands of Maria Pia Calzone an award «for is contribution for the growth of the Italian audiovisual industry worldwide». Scrosati has been responsible for productions such as Gomorra and The Young Pope, The Hand of God by Paolo Sorrentino and America Latina by D’Innocenzo Bros. Both movies are in competition at Venezia 78.
The award ceremony came at the end of the panel organized by ITTV The Italian Tv From book to screen. What producers look for attended also by Nils Hartmann, Senior Director Original Productions Sky Italia, Maria Pia Ammirati, Raifiction Director, and the writer and director Donato Carrisi.
«Book rights are sold before the novel is in the bookshops – said Scrosati – Studios have thousands of options and many stories are frozen». «Sky chose novels such as Romanzo Criminale and Gomorra because they were already brands – commented Hartman – and we needed something that was easily identifiable by the audience». «Many Italian writers today – explained Ammirati – can turn themselves in movies and tv series. It’s a straordinary osmotic relationship». «If there’s a continuity between novel and series – ha evidenziato Carrisi – the audience is happy».
