They are three, of course. But also five. Even ten, maybe twenty. They are – indeed we are – plural. We are the team of the 67th edition of Taormina Film Fest. Passionate, diverse, committed and always looking for what seems right to honor this great Festival with a long and glorious history.
Our adventure began a few months ago under the banner of trust and friendship, unfolding through countless online meetings, every day at all hours. I say it simply: it was not easy to build the festival this year for more than obvious reasons. But it was beautiful, beautiful.
Scored goals and disappointments, big steps forward and inadequacies, limits and great talents. All the ingredients of a team looking at its dreams gradually becoming true thanks to the efforts of each one and in total contrast to the prevailing individualism, thanks to the common will to embrace the abilities but also the limits of each of us.
What does this have to do with making a festival?
Very, very much because none of what is happening would have been possible without this sort of a hug. In short, Taormina is a unique reality of its kind, in front of and behind the stage of Teatro Greco.
There is a movie I love much, Sully by Clint Eastwood, which tells the troubled story of a hero but, from my personal point of view, is above all the story of a rescue turned successful for one reason only: the contribution of the whole team.
