The collaboration between Taormina Film Fest, University of Messina and Ciak during the 67th edition of the film festival represents an important opportunity of cultural and professional stimulation for the students, who through this experience were able to compare with professionals of the sector, under the coordination of the director of the magazine Flavio Natalia and his team of professionals.
All this allowed our students to interact with the experience of being both reporters and “film critics” for the week, carrying out interviews, reviews and narrating the cinematic contents at the center of the international meetings offered by the Festival.
The occasion has been really appreciated and well welcomed by the students who had the opportunity to be related with both the world of work and that of great cinema. It was important for them to feel part of a national working reality, putting aside, for a few days, the mentality of the student, to understand how the organization of a newsroom works. That includes sharing ideas the whole day and coordinating the division of tasks between colleagues.
The initiative created new enthusiasm in young people who love cinema and also in those who don’t, letting them enrich their cultural background through an experience that puts them at the center of an inebriating and gratifying reality. They faced the courage to express themselves artistically, confronting professionals who have been doing this job for years. The possibility to write articles for Ciak, with its authority in the world of cinema, has been a very constructive and formative experience for young people who want to enter the world of information professionally.
