Dune, Denis Villeneuve: “The biggest challenge? The hair of Timothée!”

Denis Villeneuve: “Herbert’s novel is even more present today. I was moved by the journey looking for identity through a different culture but also by the relationship with nature, the melancholia and the feeling of isolation. I had to find a balance, process all the information and make the storytelling as cinematic as possible. This movie is thought and made for the big screen, it’s a physical and immersive experience. I encourage everyone to watch in cinemas, the big screen is part of the language of the film. Timothée? He’s incredibly intelligent. The biggest challenge has been dealing with his hair, they’re alive!”

Timothée Chalamet: “This role is the achievement of a lifetime. I’ve been guided, we all counted on each other during the shooting, we were brothers and sisters. Characters must be real, defined. I tried to be real.”

Zendaya“I’ve been on set just a few days, but I immediately felt like part of the family. It’s been special, it was like a warm hug. Denis explained to me his world in a short time, I had to trust him and let me guide.”

Javier Bardem: “Herbert was a forerunner. I care for the environment so I was immediately connected to my character who defends the environment to let his people survive. Talking of this topic is a step forward in the right direction.”

Rebecca Ferguson“My character strongly believe in his being a mother. What happens when you have a child? It’s a constant fight to find the balance between mind and emotional care of the dear one.”

Oscar Isaac: “Leto is a very human character, he consciously marches towards defeat. Everybody believes he will not get it, but he resists and tries to transmit his sense of humanity, consciousness and magnanimity to his son.”
