E’ suo uno dei nomi che più colpiscono nella lista delle nomination ai prossimi Emmy Awards, che nella 75° edizione, il 18 settembre 2023, potrebbero premiare anche lo scomparso Ray Liotta, che nella categoria riservata agli attori Non Protagonisti in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie se la vedrà con il Richard Jenkins di Dahmer e il Jesse Plemons di Love & Death. In generale, l’elenco delle candidature per ora sembra aver premiato la generalmente celebrata Succession, che punterà a 27 statuette, contro le 24 di The Last of Us, le 23 di The White Lotus e le 21 di Ted Lasso.

La nomination postuma di Ray Liotta, per il ruolo di Big Jim Keene nella Black Bird di Dennis Lehane (su Apple TV+), non è però una novità, visto che prima di lui erano stati considerati – sebbene dopo la loro scomparsa – anche Chadwick Boseman (l’anno scorso, per What If…?), Norm MacDonald (Nothing Special), Jessica Walters (Archer), oltre a Carrie Fisher (Catastrophe), Audrey Hepburn (Gardens of the World With Audrey Hepburn), Fred Willard (Modern Family) e Anthony Bourdain (Anthony Bourdain: cucine segrete).

Ovviamente il nostro tifo va tutto per il team di Production Design composto da Cristina Onori, Gianpaolo Rifino e Letizia Santucci, oltre che per Sabrina Impacciatore e Simona Tabasco, concorrenti tra le attrici Non Protagoniste in una serie Drammatica (The White Lotus). La stessa che l’anno scorso finì per far felice la HBO, che alla fine festeggiò per le vittorie della prima stagione della serie e – di nuovo – di Succession, con la Apple di Ted Lasso costretta ad accontentarsi di quattro Emmy e ABC e Netflix solo di due… Pochi, ma sempre meglio dei molti titoli importanti che finirono per non vincere nulla e restare esclusi dalla lista dei premiati.
Vedremo dopo l’estate quali show e serie andati in onda tra il 1 giugno 2022 e il 31 maggio 2023 – da Andor e Better Call Saul a The Crown, House of the Dragon, Yellowjackets, Abbott Elementary, Barry, The Bear, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Only Murders in the Building o Mercoledì – saranno attesi dallo stesso destino.
