TAXI MONAMOUR
After the success of Giulia, presented in 2021 at Venice Days, director Ciro De Caro (Spaghetti Story, 2013) and Rosa Palasciano, nominated for Best Actress in 2023 at both the David di Donatello and Nastri d’Argento awards, are back together again in Taxi Monamour, a film now in competition at the same festival. Co-written by De Caro and Palasciano, the film tells ‘the story of the meeting and farewell between two very different women who, however, discover they have a common need’. Rosa Palasciano plays Anna. While facing her illness in solitude, Anna meets Cristi (Yeva Sai), a Ukrainian girl fleeing the war. ‘They are two women who realise that they have the sacrosanct right to do what they want with their lives,’ explains De Caro.

Mogućnost raja (POSSIBILITY OF PARADISE)
Venice Days – Special Events 2024
world premiere
Mogućnost raja, Serbia/Sweden, 2024. Directed by Mladen Kovačević. With Ivana Sahami, Dino Magnatta, Ling Lai, Shinta Sukmawati. Running time 1h 15′.
A few schoolchildren living on an island waiting for the rain to stop, an entrepreneur trying to build a resort in the jungle, a former advertising executive engaged in a deal for her new villa. These are just some of the characters in Possibility of Paradise (among the out-of-competition Special Events of the 21st Venice Days), written and directed by Serbian director Mladen Kovačević (award-winning with his previous works, including Unplugged, 4 Years in 10 Minutes and Another Spring). ‘The film’s setting,’ explains the director, ’deliberately recalls a hilly island with the Garden of Eden on its top. However, adorned with palm trees and occupied by foreigners, this kind of paradise is reminiscent of colonial imagery; the ancient quest for God, gold and glory has now become a demand for happiness‘.
