Chazelle, Sergio Castellitto and Barbara Ronchi honored by Ciak

La serata super esclusiva del nostro mensile al Gritti con Cartier e Ploom

It was not the usual party at Lido location, but a “farewell to the Festival” in a breathtaking setting, the terrace of the Hotel Gritti, in Venice, under the banner of elegance and the most exclusive guests, organized with the collaboration of Cartier and Ploom.

This is the set-up chosen this year by our monthly magazine to celebrate the Venice Film Festival, enriching the greeting with the delivery of three Ciak d’oro to great Italian and international cinema protagonists.

Among the latter, the most eagerly awaited guest was undoubtedly Damien Chazelle, who was exceptionally called to leave the work of the jury of the Venice 80 Competition, of which he is the president, to receive the Ciak d’oro of International Cinema 2023 for the direction of Babylon, winner last spring of the Cult and art-house category according to the judgment of Ciak readers, who voted (about one hundred thousand!) on the ciakmagazine.it website.

Sergio Castellitto received the Ciak d’oro Classic, for the complex of his career and the latest, resounding interpretations in films such as Il Cattivo poeta (winner of the Ciak d’oro 2021 as Best Film directed by a newcomer, Gianluca Jodice) and Pupi Avati’s Dante, without forgetting the interpretation of Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa in the Rai miniseries Il nostro generale, and Enea, the highly applauded movie competing this year for the golden Lion and directed by his son Pietro Castellitto.

Barbara Ronchi received the Ciak d’oro Cult – Colpo di Fulmine for the intensity with which she played the role of Marianna Mortara in Marco Bellocchio’s latest masterpiece, Rapito, presented at the Cannes Film Festival, the culmination of a career in auteur cinema already punctuated by prestigious awards. Flavio Natalia, Ciak’s Chief Editor, Senator Lucia Borgonzoni, Tiziana Rocca, organizer of the evening, and Paola Ferrari De Benedetti, representing Visibilia Pubblicità, gave the awards.

Aurora Giovinazzo, a very young talent who has emerged from our cinema, was the godmother of the evening. Many talents attended the event, such as Darko Perić, the Helsinki of The House of Paper, preparing his first film as director, and rewarded by Tiziana Rocca with a Monte Grappa pen.

Among the guests were top managers from the world of cinema, actors, actresses, influencers, journalists and leading figures from the world of communication. Also present was Lino Banfi with his wife Lucia.

For all, in addition to the moment of the award ceremony, the view of Venice at night ranged from the dome of St. Mark’s to Giudecca, along the Grand Canal, amid drinks and chats in the absolute elegance of Cartier.

“I’m learning Italian,” Chazelle said, “I love your film masters. Who knows, maybe one day I may shoot in Italy.”
