“Inescapable fates, denied redemption, a boy with a stormy past who does not give in to resignation” are the ingredients of Love Is a Gun, according to Beatrice Fiorentino, General Delegate of the 38th International Film Critics’ Week. Love is a Gun is the directorial debut by Taiwanese actor Lee Hong-chi, who also plays the protagonist of this film in the international competition of SIC. It is the story of Sweet Potato, a young man just released from prison who tries to start over with a small job on the waterfront. But his new routine will be disrupted by the reappearance of his old boss, his mother and his friend Maozi. Competing for SIC@SIC today is the short film Foto di gruppo by Tommaso Frangini.
